I like these picks in general. Just don't understand why the Leprechaun is shown, because it's not really the ND logo.

And the Colorado State U seal is very classy. Simple, symmetrical, no fussy letters - it captures the school identity as cleanly as any logo around.

The Utah Ute's?? How can you give this logo credit when it clearly insults Native Americans?? (I'm just kidding)Good list but I would have probably included the Toledo Rockets here also.

thanks for all the feedback. i'm actually working on the bcs conference teams list right now and it'll be up on monday or tuesday.

all of your opinions are VERY valid and i won't argue that i'm biased regarding NT's logo. since i'm no expert on graphic design, it's basically just a list of the logos that catch my eye and make me think "oh, that looks good".

i'll put a link to the bcs list as soon as it's up and my overal ranking will come a bit closer to the beginning of football season. keep the thoughts coming as i think we're all searching for something to occupy the time until two-a-days begin.

As far as UCF's Knight logo is concerned...It isn't recognizable because its only been used for a year. As time goes on, people will start to recognize that logo and associate it with the UCF program. Especially if they continue to win conference championships, produce players like Kevin Smith, and ultimately make it into a BCS conference

Great post. I love college logos and couldn't agree more that the best ones are the simple and recognizable ones.

I mostly agree with your list, but have to disagree on a few. Notre Dame being included is one, but that's already been hit upon by other replies.

Also can't agree with North Texas'. The eagle is not all that original and certainly not recognizable. I suppose if UNT would put it on their helmets and then win the Sun Belt a few more times it would help.

Boise State should have points deducted for swiping Western Michigan's logo. The two are very similar, and Western Mich had theirs well before Boise. It's also not a very simple design.

What about La Tech's logo? Very simple and classy, plus has been in use for decades. That should be in the top 5 IMO.

Also Bowling Green should get some recognition. Their Falcon has that 'wtf ??' look, but its very creative, simple and recognizable.

My vote for number 1 is Wyoming, though SMU was a good choice. Just not as creative as Cowboy Joe IMO. Half the HS's in America with 'Mustangs' as their mascot use SMU's logo.

Good job though!!

Common misconception...

All FBS (formerly D-1A) schools are part of the BCS formula, and thus a BCS school. A "BCS conference" has become common nomenclature for the 6 conferences that receive an automatic bid and all the revenue that comes with those bowls. Unfortunately, the common fan has just mistakenly assumed this means that the non-automatic qualifiers are not BCS affiliated.

Notre Dame is not conference affiliated, but is the one independent afforded an automatic bid, which should tie them into the Big 6 for your criteria.

Hope that clarifies. Good premise for a post.
