The most exciting win I have seen all year.  On a night when Texas sent its bullpen out to face Jered Weaver, the Rangers once again battle throughout the game and win it.  Looking back, I dont know why K-Rod threw a pitch over the plate on 3-1.  Michael Young had just stolen 2nd, taking advantage of K-Rod’s slow delivery to the plate.  Wouldn’t you want to throw something off the plate since he is behind in the count and you have 1st base open?  Nonetheless, I am glad he challenged him.

Here is Eric Nadel calling it on 1080: Hamilton’s 2-run shot

It was the 2nd homerun that K-Rod had given up this season.  He hasn’t had an easy time this year against the Rangers.  His past few appearances the Rangers have made it interesting.  You felt it was only a matter of time before he blew a save.

I love Washington’s decision to pinch hit Vazquez for Duran.  The lefty hitter who is hitting the ball really well this year drew a 4 pitch walk to start it off.

Great win.  This team has more momentum right now in as long as I can remember.  Let’s watch them take this series tomorrow night.

Update:  Douglas, from the comments, corrected me.  It looks like K-Rod was trying to throw a breaking pitch down, but instead the pitch stayed up.

Not only was that a clash of the AL HR leader vs. the AL saves leader, that was Josh Hamilton’s first walk-off home run and the first walk-off K-Rod has given up all year.

Did the Rangers get lucky on a mistake in their decision to have young steal second with a 2-1 count? Did they know K-Rod’s (best nickname in the game) pride would require him to still go after Hamilton?

Correction, Josh is the AL RBI leader, not HR leader.

Also, it was not a mistake to steal second. Wash said that K-Rod was 1.6-1.7 to the plate which is pretty slow and Young had a green light, so he took advantage. He was getting himself into scoring position so that even if it were a single by Josh, he could still have a chance to score. Not a mistake, good solid base coaching and running.

It wasnt a fastball on 3-1 to Hamilton…it was a 79 mph Curve that he probably meant to drop out of the strike zone trying to get Hamilton to swing at a bad pitch or have him take the open base at 1st…KROD just left it up in the zone and Hamilton took advantage of it…

    GO RANGERS!!!

I can’t tell you how awesome last nights game was. The past two Ranger games have been far more entertaining than anything the Mav’s rolled out last year.

The Difference: A young team that plays hard. Its much more refreshing to watch those kids who are supposed to lose win. I love it.
