The LEB is a collection of guys who wanted to find a solution to their daily struggle…workplace boredom. After months of “reply to all” emails, the LEB has taken it’s topic of choice (SPORTS) and entered the world of blogging. Enjoy.
The League of Extraordinary Boredom, a brainchild of MBB, was officially founded on June 05,2007 after BRD, BJD, and MBB had found relief from their workplace boredom by emailing each other predictions on the upcoming NT football season. BRD upped his game by forwarding an email detailing the “bring a can, get a burrito” promotion that chipotle was running, and upon MBB’s receipt of the email, the idea of an “official - non - official chain email” organization was born.
In the next five business days, the LEB would more than double in size by adding members MKF(who would soon become BKF), MMR (who would become MRRj, and now TOBC), MPP1 (who has since been renamed MMP), and MWtP (who’s also had a name change and is now referred to as MHC). These additions proved critical in the early development of this start-up venture.
It soon became evident, however, that due to the technological requirements of the group, an IT guy would be needed. while BKF possessed much of the knowledge needed, his responsibilities as a bordee within the organization would prohibit him from investing the time necessary to handle the day to day computing issues, so the LEB began interviewing candidates. On July 1, 2007, MDIT was added and would become an integral part of this coalition for the next couple months.
Pressing on through the summer, the LEB would continually refine and improve its craft in order to maintain it’s “cutting edge” reputation. things, however, would slow down as BKF fled the country, MBB changed jobs and other members went back to school. confused about the future of the group, one thing was sure: change was needed.
After carefully reviewing where their competition had narrowed the gap, the LEB determined that two things were needed to further differentiate themselves:
1. a big fre a kin TV
2. celebrity endorsement
They would fill these needs by adding MBS and MBR in early August. True to his name, MBS (member big screen) had just purchased a 55″ TV and their first need was resolved easily. with BJD temporarily leading the group as MBB settled into his new job, he would attempt to recruit someone from his distant past to accommodate the second need of the association.
Cycling through his rolodex of contacts, BJD located the name of a man who would fit this role perfectly. picking up the phone to nervously present this man with an endorsement proposal, BJD was amazed to find that this contact did, in fact, remember that BJD was in his wedding three weeks prior and was equally as bored at work. MBR and all his bell ringing fame would now solidify the LEB as a force to be reckoned with.
After two months of owning the cyberspace universe around them, the LEB would decide to spread its wings by adding two new members, MMX and MTP. while their email contributions would leave much to be desired, having their names on the league roster would boost the reputation of the already buzz worthy group.
Finally, after a lengthy hiatus from activity, the members of the LEB determined that they needed to resurrect a former member and called on MRRj to become their “coach from the sidelines”. after accepting this position, MRRj was renamed TOBC and would provide the leadership, vision, and direction needed for the league to achieve its unrealized potential as it embarks on “operation impact”.
Along with the introduction of OI, 2008 saw slight a shake up in the organization with several members of the Bored electing to pursue other options, others changing places of employment, and new associates joining the fellowship. Headlining the new membership was MDB who is locally renowned for his knowledge of SPORTS, movies, music, corn on the cob… His addition to the LEB reinvigorated the association and its pursuit of perfection.
On April 11, 2008, the LEB realized success in its first assignment under the “operation impact” initiative when Bryant Gumble announced his decision to “leave” the NFL network. While not officially recognized by either the NFL or Gumble as the reason this decision was made, sources have confirmed that the letter drafted by BRD may have played a part in the end of this relationship.
Finally, in May, the Bored decided to offer its services with a global audience and entered the world of blogging and the LEB SPORTS blog came into existence. Returning from cyberspace exile, MDIT took over the responsibility of maintaining the site allowing the league a forum for expressing the SPORTS thoughts that occupy much of the group’s daily discussion. The blog is a place where hot sports opinions abound and anything goes…as long as it’s SPORTS related.
